Biography
 
Betsy also expertly crafts acrylic and oil paintings on canvas and has shown her work in Maryland, Virginia and in Atlanta, Georgia.  In addition she’s extended her artistic hand into hand-painted furniture and has even been designing her own unique style of jewelry.

Betsy Koepenick has made an impressive career of painting for the past 27 years. She’s been featured in designer showcases in several tour of homes. During this time she has also used her own home as her canvas to try out new ideas and techniques. The result has landed her with several feature articles in Better Homes and Gardens, Romantic Homes, and Traditional Home magazines as well as  articles in many regional newspapers and even a cable TV appearance.

She began her artistic study at the America University at the age of 14, taking classes there in drawing until she was 18.  She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.  A lifetime student of her craft, Betsy continued her education by studying watercolor with Margaret Krankling and perfected her signature trompe l`oeil style at the Schuller School of Art.

Since 2002, Betsy has opened her studio to teach art classes. Based in her lovely Gaithersburg, Maryland home she works with students ranging from the inspired novice to the experienced artisan.  Betsy is a very hands-on teacher who believes “Art is never an extravagance. It is an essential part of life.”

Betsy Koepenick creates beautiful hand-painted trompe l`oeil designs, murals, and faux painted walls that transform any environment into one of magic and wonder. In her many years of experience she has become skilled at a wide variety of styles and subjects and has worked with hundreds of clients. “I love collaborating with clients and coming up with new ideas”, says Betsy “each project becomes a truly unique creation and  is a reflection of their personalities and lifestyles as well”.
